Renewal of My Spirit III
Renewal of My Spirit Series
There’s a magnificent Willow Tree standing tall at Edgewater Park in Cleveland, Ohio. It exudes a serene and comforting presence, as if Mother Nature herself were wrapping you in an affectionate embrace. Like so many others, I felt drawn to its quiet strength and beauty. On a crisp autumn day, I stood beneath its branches, captivated as it swayed in the breeze, its yellowing leaves drifting to the ground. Just a month prior, it had been lush and green, full of life. Now, under an overcast sky, it appeared softened, adorned in the muted hues of autumn.
But within this seemingly subdued tree, I found an unexpected symphony of color. Through my process, vibrant shades emerged that I hadn’t consciously sought—a hidden celebration of resilience and life, alive within the branches and leaves. It was as though the Willow held a story I hadn’t fully seen, a burst of color and vitality that lay hidden until revealed through my art. In that moment, a profound sense of awe and gratitude washed over me, sparking the inspiration for this series and marking the beginning of a personal journey toward healing and renewal.
The Renewal of My Spirit series is a tribute to this tree, capturing its resilience and the hidden beauty I discovered in it. Growing along the rugged coast of Lake Erie, this Willow has survived in conditions that defy what is typical for its kind. At 70-80 years old, it has outlived the usual Willow lifespan of 30-50 years, standing strong through harsh weather and rocky terrain. Its endurance speaks to me, reflecting my own journey to grow and persevere against the odds.
Each piece in this series reflects a different facet of the Willow’s essence and my journey:
Renewal of My Spirit I: This piece reveals the Willow in bold reds and purples with golden light breaking through. The colors feel defiant, reflecting the tree’s fierce endurance and will to survive against the challenging conditions of its environment.
Renewal of My Spirit II: Here, the Willow appears softer, dressed in yellows and greens, embodying resilience through gentleness. It’s a reminder that strength can be found in calm persistence, simply standing tall through every season.
Renewal of My Spirit III: In dreamlike pinks and purples, this version of the Willow has an ethereal, transcendent quality, capturing the beauty of transformation. It symbolizes the tree’s ongoing renewal, a timeless spirit of growth and change.
This Willow has come to symbolize a heartfelt prayer, my own personal Mi Sheberach—a source of renewal of strength, gratitude, and inspiration. Since that day, I’ve pursued life and art with a new sense of honesty and authenticity. This tree marks the moment I found myself—Jason Toth, the artist—and as I continue to grow, I intend to revisit and expand upon this series, allowing it to evolve with me. Through Renewal of My Spirit, I hope to share not only the beauty of this enduring Willow but also the hidden vibrancy we all carry within.

Let’s Get Metal with Metal Art Prints
Creating art that POPS is my purpose, my MO, the ultimate goal. While the work I produce looks stunning on photo paper, the absolute best way to experience my art is when it's printed on a slab of metal… aluminum to be precise. The shimmer, the sheen, and the durability just cannot be beat. There are so many benefits to metal prints, but my favorite (from a utilitarian standpoint) is that you never have to worry about the expense and frustration that comes with custom framing.
Your metal prints come ready to hang with a built-in mount. And don’t be fooled by the material, these things are ultra-light, so you never have to deal with the anxiety of coming home to a fresh hole in your drywall and shattered glass on the floor!
So, what goes into a metal print?
Metal prints represent a new art medium for preserving photos and art by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image is infused into the surface and not on it, the artwork takes on an almost magical luminescence. The ultra-hard scratch-resistant surface is waterproof/weatherproof and can be cleaned easily with ammonia-free glass cleaner. For the best viewing experience metal prints should not be displayed in direct sunlight.

…and yet, there is a deeper lesson to be learned here. Our senses, though magnificent in their own right, can only show us a limited view of reality. We are bound by the visible spectrum of light, the range of audible sound frequencies, and the physical limitations of our bodies. But when we embrace reality as it is, without imposing our own labels, stories and expectations, we open ourselves up to a world of wonder and possibility.
If you’re interested in having one of my pieces printed in a different size or material, I’m eager to hear about it. Please click here to contact me.
