Pastel Comtemplation

Rodin’s “The Thinker” is an iconic sculpture. Believe or not, my first introduction to it was Looney Tunes, and it left it’s mark on me. I absolutely love this statue. There are only 23 sculptures like this in the world, 6 in the United States, and we have one of them. However, our sculpture is a true one of kind… did you know that on March 24th, 1970 a bomb (yes, bomb) was placed on the pedestal by a radical organization called the Weather Underground. The bomb went off and caused irreparable damage to the base. Go see it in person, notice how the lower legs are missing and the iron is blown back as if a sheet catching the wind. As terrible as the vandalism was, the damage created an element of movement and drama in an otherwise still piece. It makes me consider that The Thinker, a man in still contemplation, is only what we see. He could be thinking about anything.

“Pastel Contemplation” gives perspective on the pose and detail of the artistry required to make this a sculpture that speaks to humanity all over the world. It’s like we’re an ant looking up from a blade of grass at the giant thinking man, an immersive perspective that pulls you in and has you wondering “what’s he thinking about?” “What would I be thinking about sitting like that?”

Let’s Get Metal with Metal Art Prints

Creating art that POPS is my purpose, my MO, the ultimate goal. While the work I produce looks stunning on photo paper, the absolute best way to experience my art is when it's printed on a slab of metal… aluminum to be precise. The shimmer, the sheen, and the durability just cannot be beat. There are so many benefits to metal prints, but my favorite (from a utilitarian standpoint) is that you never have to worry about the expense and frustration that comes with custom framing.

Your metal prints come ready to hang with a built-in mount. And don’t be fooled by the material, these things are ultra-light, so you never have to deal with the anxiety of coming home to a fresh hole in your drywall and shattered glass on the floor!

So, what goes into a metal print?

Metal prints represent a new art medium for preserving photos and art by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image is infused into the surface and not on it, the artwork takes on an almost magical luminescence. The ultra-hard scratch-resistant surface is waterproof/weatherproof and can be cleaned easily with ammonia-free glass cleaner. For the best viewing experience  metal prints should not be displayed in direct sunlight.

Get that Paper… Paper Prints

Perhaps you have the perfect frame in mind for a piece of my art and a metal print just won’t cut it… let’s go old-school with modern technology and get you a stunning photo-paper print. Available in a range of sizes with most pieces printed on brilliant metallic-paper that shimmers and mesmerizes in the light. Just wait until you see it in person!

Old School in the Newest Way

Metallic paper uses a patented combination of film and laminate layers resulting in a striking metallic shine. Its unique pearlescent surface, ultra-bright backgrounds, and smooth photo finish draw you into the brilliant world of color I created as if you were looking through a window. Oh, and it will last a lifetime or two (or more)… standard Archival Value of 100 years in home display; 200 years in dark storage.

Now, let’s add some color to your walls and make everyday a beautiful experience. I can’t wait for you to see what you’ve been missing.

…and yet, there is a deeper lesson to be learned here. Our senses, though magnificent in their own right, can only show us a limited view of reality. We are bound by the visible spectrum of light, the range of audible sound frequencies, and the physical limitations of our bodies. But when we embrace reality as it is, without imposing our own labels, stories and expectations, we open ourselves up to a world of wonder and possibility.

If you’re interested in having one of my pieces printed in a different size or material, I’m eager to hear about it. Please click here to contact me.
