Eternal Cow of The West Side Market

The West Side Market is an iconic Cleveland landmark steeped in history and legend. The architects and tradesmen that designed and built this building took great pride in the level of detail throughout the exterior and interior. When considering the sheer size of this building, it’s truly a feat of human ingenuity and craftsmanship. I had this realization one day when I noticed the architectural elements covering the exterior of the building, specifically the stone busts of product categories sold at the time.

The next time you find yourself at the West Side Market, take a moment to walk around the building paying special attention to the stone busts every few feet. You’ll see stone busts of corn, fish, poultry, various types of produce, etc.

Eternal Cow of the West Side Market is the most prominent of the product category busts. The head of a cow faces outward with an imposing stare. The cow’s head is framed by stone carvings of produce and the slight curve of the roof echoed throughout the facade.

One of my favorite things about Eternal Cow of the West Side Market, is that this artwork could be anywhere, unless the viewer recognizes the stone bust, this building could be anywhere in the country. It could be anywhere, but I’m proud its Cleveland.

Let’s Get Metal with Metal Art Prints

Creating art that POPS is my purpose, my MO, the ultimate goal. While the work I produce looks stunning on photo paper, the absolute best way to experience my art is when it's printed on a slab of metal… aluminum to be precise. The shimmer, the sheen, and the durability just cannot be beat. There are so many benefits to metal prints, but my favorite (from a utilitarian standpoint) is that you never have to worry about the expense and frustration that comes with custom framing.

Your metal prints come ready to hang with a built-in mount. And don’t be fooled by the material, these things are ultra-light, so you never have to deal with the anxiety of coming home to a fresh hole in your drywall and shattered glass on the floor!

So, what goes into a metal print?

Metal prints represent a new art medium for preserving photos and art by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image is infused into the surface and not on it, the artwork takes on an almost magical luminescence. The ultra-hard scratch-resistant surface is waterproof/weatherproof and can be cleaned easily with ammonia-free glass cleaner. For the best viewing experience metal prints should not be displayed in direct sunlight.

Get that Paper… Paper Prints

Perhaps you have the perfect frame in mind for a piece of my art and a metal print just won’t cut it… let’s go old-school with modern technology and get you a stunning photo-paper print. Available in a range of sizes with most pieces printed on brilliant metallic-paper that shimmers and mesmerizes in the light. Just wait until you see it in person!

Old School in the Newest Way

Metallic paper uses a patented combination of film and laminate layers resulting in a striking metallic shine. Its unique pearlescent surface, ultra-bright backgrounds, and smooth photo finish draw you into the brilliant world of color I created as if you were looking through a window. Oh, and it will last a lifetime or two (or more)… standard Archival Value of 100 years in home display; 200 years in dark storage.

Now, let’s add some color to your walls and make everyday a beautiful experience. I can’t wait for you to see what you’ve been missing.

…and yet, there is a deeper lesson to be learned here. Our senses, though magnificent in their own right, can only show us a limited view of reality. We are bound by the visible spectrum of light, the range of audible sound frequencies, and the physical limitations of our bodies. But when we embrace reality as it is, without imposing our own labels, stories and expectations, we open ourselves up to a world of wonder and possibility.

If you’re interested in having one of my pieces printed in a different size or material, I’m eager to hear about it. Please click here to contact me.
